Wedding speeches are as old as the marriage ceremony itself and have become an integral part of the whole wedding day. Speeches are traditionally given by the bride’s father and mother, groom’s father and mother, the best man and finally by the bride and the bridegroom. It is the biggest moment where the wedding guests will laugh and cheer. Everyone wants to wish the bride and groom the very best in their new life together, and giving a speech in front of the whole gathering during the wedding is the most pointed way of telling the couple how you feel about them and what you want for them. All wedding speeches begin with a introduction and often end with a wedding toast.

These speeches should be well prepared and done ahead of time to make sure that the bride and the groom will forever remember what you wished for them, thought of them or felt for them. Wedding speeches are expected to be individual and memorable. Giving a wedding speech is a task that can spark fear in even the most experienced speaker. With guidance, anyone can speak with poise, confident that the other guests will respond with admiration.

Wedding speeches are best when short, especially if guests are to be standing to listen. Thus, one or two main points with a story or two for each will be enough. Wedding speeches are generally very lovely and touching with more sweet words. They also get some people in tears if the speaker is really good.

Wedding speeches are supposed to be sincere but entertaining, but not to the extent that it is a competition to be judged by the guests with a ‘clap-o-meter’.

It is very important to speak at a slow, measured pace and try your best to hold the attention of all the guests. You can have a small card to remember your points for the wedding speech, but do try to learn the speech and not just read it.
